Getting Started
This page is intended for new users to refer to when getting their bearings on GP-UK. This page includes basic instructions for signing up, then basic editing.
Please refer also to the Pre-Signup FAQ, the Subscribers FAQ, and the main Manual.
Signup
First you need to create a standard website. Go to the Signup page, fill in the details, then click submit and your website will be created.
Browse
After you have created your site you will see a link to both your site and its administration login page. You will also receive these details by email, so be sure to enter a valid email address or someone else will receive your password in their email.
View your site and its various standard pages, and then go to your admin login so that you can have a look around there.
Admin
The admin login is at http://www.gp-uk.net/typo3/
Use the username (accountname) and password that you specified at signup, and which will have been emailed to you for confirmation.
You will see an admin page that looks something like this:

Pages
The main icon of interest is the one at top left: "Page".

Click on that word "Page". The right hand pane will display your site pages as icons and titles.

The first time you login you will see only the home page title. Next to it is a plus sign +.
Click on that + and it will open up the tree of all your webpages, showing all the main pages.

Some pages have subpages and again you can click on the + to display those.
If you select one of those pages then you have two options:
-
If you click on the text of the page name e.g. 'Privacy Information' then you will be taken to a screen where you are able to edit the content of that page.
-
If you click on the yellow icon to the left of the title text, then hold your mouse still, a little submenu will appear with various options on it, one of which is 'New'. If you select 'New' then you will be able to create a new page, either as a subpage to the currently selected page, or if you select 'Wizard' then you can place the new page anywhere on your site. The little submenu has other options, notably 'More Options' which includes an option to 'Move' a page to some other position in your menu.
Configuration
The Admin pages default to a wide view, which may be too wide for you if your screen is set ot resolution of 800 x 600 or less.

If you have a higher resolution screen e.g. 1024x768 or higher, then this wide view has some advantages, but if not you may switch to 'condensed mode'.
Select 'Setup' from the main menu to the left, then tick the box for 'condensed mode', then scroll to the bottom and click the button to save your options.
You will need to logout and in again before your changes will be activated.

The 'Setup' screen also enables you to change your password.
If you lose your password then we cannot retrieve it for you since it is stored in an encrypted form. However we can reset your password to something else, so if you forget it then please contact support.
Going Further
