Subscribers FAQ
This page is for Questions and Answers for users of the GP-UK website service. You may refer to the Manual for full details on maintainng and updating your site, but here we shall list some of the more common queries.
Q. I Can't Login
A. There a few things to check if you are having difficulty logging in:
-
You login at http://www.gp-uk.net/typo3/
-
Your username is the same as your account name.
-
Your password is the password that you chose when you signed up, unless you have changed it subsequently in which case you must of course use that one. Has someone else from your practice changed the password without telling you?
-
Both username and password are case sensitive
-
If your password is 'password' then 'Password' or 'PASSWORD' won't work.
-
Cookies must be enabled. Usually these are enabled by default, but may have been disabled if you have changed your security settings.
-
In Internet Explorer you can check your cookie settings by going to Tools / Internet Options / Privacy. It usually works if you have cookie setting set to medium. You can make sure that they work for logging in here if you select 'Edit', then add the address www.gp-uk.net and click 'Allow'.
-
If you are still unable to login then you could email support and ask for your password to be reset.
Q. Whenever I try to delete a page, it doesn't get deleted.
A. To lessen accidental loss of data, deleting of pages has been disabled. Instead you can "hide" a page (set visibility to hidden). However if you want to be able to delete pages, simply email support and ask for the permissions on your account to be changed to allow this.
Q. I've deleted an important page/paragraph, can I get it back?
A. There is an undelete facility which may help you in some situations. View the video tutorial about undeleting.
The right hand 'curly-arrow' button, which sometimes appears to the right of the save/delete buttons, is the undelete button.

In some circumstances support might be able to recover lost data for you, if it has not been completely deleted from the database. Please use this facility sparingly, and in any case it is not 100% reliable/available so don't depend on it.
Q. I've edited my page but when I look at the website it hasn't changed.
A. This service makes extensive use of 'Cacheing' of content so as to give a faster page load for your visitors. Mostly the cache updating is handled automatically, but sometimes you need to manually clear the cache so that you can see your changes take effect.
To clear the cache, select any page of your site and click on the text of the title to go the the editing screen. At bottom left of the right-hand editing screen you will see a little drop-down menu. Click on it and select 'Clear All Cache' and the cache will be cleared. You may do this as often as you like and you are encouraged to do so whenever you are experiencing difficulty viewing changes to your website. However be aware that after you have cleared the cache the next time you load a page it may take a little longer and you may see a notice asking you to wait whilst the page is generated.
